Because Car Listing operates exclusively as a website (not an app), you will never need to download or install software to use our platform. This means you will never be forced to delete “our app” to free up storage space on your device.

  • Payment Information: When you pay for a listing (“pay per listing”), payment details are processed by our secure third-party payment gateway (e.g., PayStack, PayFast, Yoco, or similar). We do not store full credit card numbers on our servers.

  • Communication Data: Records of your inquiries, support requests, or messages to other users.

2.2 Information Collected Automatically

  • Usage Data: IP address, browser type, device type, operating system, pages visited, time and date of visit, search filters used (e.g., “used cars in Gauteng”).

  • Cookies & Tracking: Small data files stored on your device to remember preferences and improve performance. You may disable cookies via your browser settings.

3. How We Use Your Information

We use your information for the following lawful purposes:

  • To operate the platform: Display your vehicle listings to buyers across South Africa.

  • To process payments: Charge you correctly for each active listing.

  • To communicate: Send listing approval notifications, payment confirmations, and responses to your support queries.

  • Hosting & analytics providers: Third-party services that help us run the website (e.g., cloud hosting, database management). All such providers are bound by POPIA-compliant data protection agreements.

  • Law enforcement: If required by a valid South African court order or to prevent imminent harm.

6. Data Retention

We retain your personal information only as long as necessary:

  • Active listings: Data is kept for the duration of your paid listing period plus 30 days (to allow re-listing).

  • Inactive accounts: If you close your account, we delete or anonymize your personal information within 90 days, except where legal retention applies (e.g., financial records for 5 years for tax purposes).

  • Vehicle listing history: Anonymized listing data (without seller identity) may be kept for market research.

7. Your Rights (POPIA Rights)

As a South African data subject, you have the right to:

  • Access: Request a copy of all personal information we hold about you.

  • Correction: Fix inaccurate or outdated information.

  • Deletion: Request removal of your data (subject to legal retention periods).

Additional Note Regarding Device Storage (No App)

You are not required to download any mobile application to use Car Listing. Our website is responsive (mobile-friendly) and works in any standard web browser (Chrome, Safari, Opera Mini, etc.). This means:

  • You will never need to free up phone storage to keep “our app.”

  • You can simply bookmark our website or save it to your phone’s home screen as a shortcut (a feature that uses negligible storage).

  • If you ever clear your browser cache or cookies, you may need to log in again, but no app data will ever be “deleted” from your device.
